007 시리즈 24탄 개봉일이 확정됐다.
007 시리즈 프로듀서 바바라 브로콜리(Barbara Broccoli)와 마이클 G. 윌슨, EON 프로덕션, MGM, 소니 픽쳐스는 007 시리즈 24탄 ‘본드24(임시제목)’의 개봉일과 영화감독을 발표했다.
‘본드24′는 영국 영화배우 다니엘 크레이그(Daniel Craig) 주연의 네 번째 제임스 본드 영화이며, 연출은 지난 ‘스카이폴(Skyfall)’을 맡았던 영국 영화감독 샘 멘데스(Sam Mendes)가 돌아온다. 멘데스는 지난 3월 스테이지 공연 등 다른 프로젝트로 인해 ‘본드24′ 연출을 맡지 않을 것이라고 발표했으나 다시 생각이 바뀌어 007 시리즈로 돌아올 것이라는 루머가 나오더니 이번 공식 발표를 통해 결국은 ‘본드24′ 연출을 맡는 것으로 확인됐다.
한 영화감독이 두 편의 제임스 본드 영화를 연속으로 연출하는 것은 지난 80년대 존 글렌(John Glen) 이후 처음이다. 존 글렌이 1981년작 ‘유어 아이스 온리(For Your Eyes Only)’부터 1989년작 ‘라이센스 투 킬(Licence to Kill)’까지 다섯 편의 80년대 제임스 본드 영화를 연출한 것을 마지막으로 90년대부터 지금까지 한 영화감독이 두 편 이상의 제임스 본드 영화를 연속으로 연출한 적이 없었다. 마틴 캠벨(Martin Campbell)이 1995년작 ‘골든아이(GoldenEye)’와 2006년작 ‘카지노 로얄(Casino Royale)’ 등 두 편의 제임스 본드 영화를 연출했지만 ‘연속’이 아니었다.
이렇게 해서 샘 멘데스는 테렌스 영(2연속, 모두 3편 연출), 가이 해밀튼(3연속, 모두 4편 연출), 루이스 길버트(2연속, 모두 3편 연출), 존 글렌(5연속)에 이어 다섯 번째로 ‘제임스 본드 영화를 두 편 이상 연속으로 연출한 영화감독’이 됐다.
또한, 샘 멘데스는 테렌스 영(3편), 가이 해밀튼(4편), 루이스 길버트(3편), 존 글렌(5편), 마틴 캠벨(2편)에 이어 여섯 번째로 ‘제임스 본드 영화를 두 편 이상 연출한 영화감독’이 됐다.
‘본드24′ 스크린플레이는 존 로갠(John Logan)이 맡았으며, 개봉은 영국에서 10월23일, 미국에서2015년 11월6일 각각 개봉한다. 지난 3월 MGM이 ‘본드24′를 “3년 안에 개봉할 것”이라고 밝혀 2016년 개봉을 의미한 것인지 아니면 ‘스카이폴’ 개봉으로부터 3년 이후인 2015년 개봉을 의미한 것인지 불확실했으나, 이번 공식발표를 통해 2015년 개봉인 것으로 확인됐다.

The film is set for release in UK theaters on October 23, 2015 and in US theaters on November 6, 2015.
SKYFALL™, the 23rd James Bond film, took in $1.1 billion worldwide and set a new mark as the highest-grossing film of all time in the UK; it was the best-selling Bond film on DVD/Blu-ray and was the most critically acclaimed film in the history of the longest-running film franchise.
